Neighbourhood Wardens

The Feet on the Street for Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Bratton Fleming.

Transform's Neighbourhood Wardens are the "Feet on the Street" whose aim is to improve the quality of life for residents in Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Bratton Fleming.

Their work reflects the needs of the community, working with young people, looking out for vulnerable people, bringing old and young people together and being a point of contact between residents and agencies to help sort out any problems in the Neighbourhood.

The Wardens:

* Report problems that residents are experiencing directly to the service providers, so that they can be sorted;

* Put residents intouch with service providers;

* Attend Residents' groups and community events;

* Identify services that need to be improved or created;

* Work with young people, developing new services and promoting understanding of the issues facing young people;

* Support old and vulnerable people, helping them to access services;

* Facilitate environmental improvements to help keep the area clean and tidy;

* Work to increase community confidence and security and reduce fear of crime.

Wardens are not a second police force

The Neighbourhood wardens do not have the enforcement powers of the police, but they can help residents who are worried, or unsure about calling the police, or who wish to report problems anonymously.
